Brief discussions on this topic with members of the various existing LFC supporters clubs have proven to be a useful guide as to how this idea would be received. Everyone spoken to (only a small number admittedly) felt that this idea had the bare bones to build on and in time hopefully forge long lasting links between all the existing and future supporters clubs of Livingston FC. It could prove especially vital in making sure that the voice of the fans who both support the team at home and travel away to games is given a wider platform.
Instead of many smaller supporter clubs with similar agendas working separately, it would be possible on certain issues for them to unite under a larger banner and attain a much louder voice!
It was hoped to have a draft charter for the reps to take away from the meeting tomorrow, but unfortunately time is against us due to the late notice of when the meeting was taking place.
Instead, this brief introduction to the idea is about the sum of it at the moment. The initial document will shortly be completed for the perusal of all existing SC's committees and members with a view to inviting comment and suggesting improvements.
It's hoped that this idea will meet with widespread approval and by signing the (eventual) agreed charter that each SC will concur to open clear and ongoing lines of communication between existing and all future SC's. To meet at regular intervals to discuss relevant topics and work together with other relevant parties in attempts to increase the support of Livingston FC as a whole.
Of course, each SC will continue to be it's own individual body, with it's own rules and regulations. The agreement to work closer together with each other won't alter that in any way, but it's time for the supporters clubs to stand together and look to build a solid base from which to increase our memberships, our level of our voice in talks with the club and most importantly, the long term support of Livingston FC.
