The whistle was heard in Bathgate

The whistle was heard in Bathgate, Whitburn and Harthill, but Alan Maybury never heard it. Neither did his gaffer.

Luckily, David Fernandez saw what was coming, and no real damage was done, although Maybury was red-carded.

Fernandez, however, needs more protection from referees. He can take on three or four defenders, then stick the ball in the top corner. Most players know this and want to stop the wee man in his tracks.

Fernandez has been linked with a £3m move to Bolton and after watching his performances, then that price seems about right.

If Livingston eventually sold him, then I hope it's to someone outside Scotland. I don't ever want to see him playing for the Old Firm.

No disrespect to them, but Fernandez can and will make a name for himself in the Premiership, but not for £1m - no way.
