Livingston supprters give their two weekly view

Evening chums, time for another wade through the muddy, polluted waters that are the messageboards, and there are no prizes for guessing the hot topic of this edition. Thats right, the bizarre posting timings have proved more perplexing than a Davie Hay substitution, but I suppose we better get the piddly issues out the road first. Apparently we signed some Spanish scruff by the name of Fernandez, not that many seemed to notice. Still, the signing roused excitement amongst Livi fans not seen since AndyK announced in the OL showers that he'd left the team's towels on the bus.
Agent Wild set the tone:

"Absolutly fantastic - no other words for it. Will he get a roar on his return or not?"

Given the reaction on the boards, we'd be lucky if half the fans didnt run on the pitch, pin him down and give him a french kiss, let alone any roar!

FiNbAr offered a little more comment:

"I'd welcome him back with open arms. He went to Sellic cos we wanted the £1.2m, and he wanted to further his career (who wouldn't).

The Celtic move didn't work out for him (cos martin o'neill is an erse of the highest order - he pays Bobo Balde £28,000 PER WEEK and doesn't rate Fernandez highly enough to give him a place on the bench).

The Fernandez replacements didn't work out for us (we still lack a creative spark in attacking midfield, and don't score enough goals as a result)

this has to be a good move for Livi and for David himself. I'd be keen to hear reasons why anyone would be opposed to the move..."

...but as true as this all is, its about the only post that isn't describing some sort of pants-wetting joy, so eloquently displayed by Durbin72:

"I’m so excited to see Fernandez playing for us again tonight, I might make sex wee in my pants."

And why not I hear you cry? Given last seasons hell for both us and him, given we still seem to be missing that extra spark, and given Whitmore now looks to be about as useful to us as a hooker is to the Pope. Nevertheless, Bill the Bass came up with a theory on the signing...

"I wonder if his wife still has him on a "no goals no sh@g" deal? Another reason for coming back."

That'll be it then. Incidentally, I beleive Zarate was on such a deal, the only difference being that DK agreed to step in when Rolando announced he was single, which explains it all.

But enough prattling about our favourite Celtic player, and onto the flipside of the coin, and further comings and goings saw Lauchlan in, and Xausa and Wilson out.

And Barry, man of the fans as he is, posted his own goodbye message:

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Livingston, helped in no small measure by the way you, the fans took to me. When i came at first I was very sceptical because I was coming from a rival team at the time but the support I received was magnificent. I can still remember playing in a practice match at the stadium and the announcer calling out the new players names and having to run out alone. I got a great reception that day and part from a few times last season which was understandable, have always got.

The Sturm Graz game I think was my best performance but I remember best the day I scored against Hearts(last game of season) and celebrated Elvis style in order to win a few pints. All great fun and shows the relationship we enjoyed."

Mellow_yellow summed it all up:

"Everyone will miss you. It took the shine off St. Fernandez coming , knowing that Barry was gone. And we never even got a chance to salute him at Almondvale"

...as did Lionick:

"Very disappointed to see Barry go....my two boys will be shocked at this, Bazza and Davide were their two favourite players and now they are both gone. The return of Fernandez will soften the blow but its only a loan deal.

Barry if you do read this site again, thanks for the effort and goals towards the Livi cause. My lasting memory will probably be your performance in the home leg against Sturm Graz, the goal you scored was a belter and the attemped "Gary McAllisteresque" free-kick just before half-time was sheer genius which brought out the save of the match from their keeper. Good luck back at ICT and I hope you all prove to be the best in Div 1 this season."

Amen, and indeed we'll miss his relationship with the fans, we'll miss him sitting on his backside in the opposition penalty area moaning about a throw in we deserved while the other team run up the park and score, but we'll also miss the great goals he scored which provided us all with these great memories.

And so to the cause of much bemusement on the boards. No, its not HAcK speaking sense again, but strange goings on with the server clock.
Even great minds were confused, with General Gordon commenting:

"How is it that you are able to respond to my posting a full five minutes before I posted it?

Could it be due to a fracture in the time/space continuum, dilithium crystal melt-down, a leak in the very magna of existence or LLD spilling a pint of "heavy" over his keyboard. The possibilities are too horrendous to contemplate."
Darwin offered this explanation:

"There I was, strolling through Craigshill examining the wildlife inhabiting "The Groves" when I was approached by a sweaty youth and ushered into a strange vehicle called a "Delorian". Despite my protestations, he insisted on calling me 'Doc' and soon we were speeding toward Cameron Iron Works in said vehicle, reaching the breathtaking velocity of 88mph!

Suddenly there was a blinding flash and I found myself back where the journey commenced. I bade the youth farewell and hastily made my way home, passing myself en route (most unusual). From then, I was able to reply to the posting I had read previously, but which you were yet to post."

Its all a bit like watching pigeons having sex. Vaguely interesting, a little confusing, slightly funny but your not altogether sure why...Or is that just me then?

But now to a shameless plug. No, Im not talking about Peters latest idea for a Yorkshire Womens Institute-style calendar featuring various DBM celebs ('shameless plug' get'it?) but the match taking place between a team of dis-organised, unfit, talentless haddies..........................and the boards team!
10am on Saturday morning at Craigswood Sports Centre. Be there!(or have a nice lie in)

But I must dash, as time is like my trousers...a little tight.
Till next time mis amigos,
Ole!
