TABLOID - Lambert in Magnificent Seven shock.

The Magnificent 7, yesterday
Livi manager Paul Lambert yesterday dedicated his side’s 7-0 thrashing by Hibs at Easter Road to his former Celtic team-mate, Henrik Larsson.

Lambert had called a press conference following Livi’s gutless collapse to a resurgent Hibs side, no doubt buoyed by their demolition of Rangers in the Scottish Cup a few days earlier. Livi fans had been furious at the team’s performance so Lambert called the press conference to explain what went wrong. However his revelation took even the most experience hack by surprise.

Speaking as usual through his interpreter, Lambert said “being the Celtic legend that I am, and seeing as how I have to keep the chairman sweet or he’ll give me my jotters, I thought there was something magical about the number 7. Henrik wore the number 7 hooped shirt, so I think it’s only right to dedicate all 7 Hibs goals to him.”

And when asked exactly what any of that has to do with Livingston FC, Lambert’s interpreter said “look, my jacket’s on a shoogly nail here, and this is the easiest gig I’ve ever been given. I’m looking after number 1 here, so get off my back!”

We later spoke to chairman Pearse Brosnan and asked him for his reaction. “Sounds fair enough to me” he gap-toothily grinned, “Henrik’s a legend alright. Hail! Hail!”

So it looks as though Lambert will still be in charge on Saturday to face almost certain defeat to fellow basement crap side Dunfermline Athletic.
