Lets make one thing quite clear, the Lions must beat Montrose quiet comfortably on Saturday in the third round of the Scottish Cup. Montrose only got trough to the next round when the struggled against East of Scotland league leaders Threave Rovers, beating the minnows 1-0 at Links Park thanks to a late Martin Wood strike.

Montrose have already played SPL opposition this season in the CIS cup, they were hammered 9-0 by Hibernian, and the Livi supporters will be looking for more of the same, but a scoreline of 3 or 4 nil is what most supporters would be happy with.

David Fernandez is back fully fit, and all the players that were complaining of lower back pain after playing on Dunfermline’s plastic pitch have all declared themselves fit. So the Lions have near enough a full squad to face the third division side, and Colin McMenamin is looking to get back into the first team after his impressive loan stint at Falkirk.

Henry Hall brings his Montrose side down south to face Livingston knowing fine well that his side face an uphill struggle to keep the Livingston strikers at bay. Montrose are currently 6th place in the Third Division, having conceded 23 goals in 19 games. Frank Conway is a name that most Livi supporters will remember. The Dundonian is a experienced player having made over 200 appearances for his first club Brechin City, before moving on to Livingston and Airdrie prior to moving to Recreation Park, and then to Links Park to sign for Montrose. The 33 year old played as a sweeper or in midfield last season.

The Lions must win this one, and they must win it comfortably. I make no apologies in saying that this Montrose side are a bunch of diddies who either post letters through doors as their day job, or they wash the wellie bins after the council empties them. Livingston could field their under 17 side and still beat Montrose, so I see no reason why we can’t hammer them 5 or 6 nil. A defeat is out of the question, I am that confident that we will win that if we don’t, I will run done Mid Calder main street naked on Sunday morning, Monday morning and Tuesday night.
