New Morton manager Allan Moore has brought Mark McNally to Cappielow as his assistant manager but lost striker Iain Russell to Livingston.Former Celtic and Partick Thistle defender McNally worked with Moore at his previous club, Stirling Albion, and has signed a three-year contract.

But Russell has accepted a two-year contract with Livingston.

Moore, who took the striker to Stirling on loan last season, had offered the 27-year-old a one-year deal.

However, the Greenock club's website stated: "The additional security of an extra year, coupled with regular first-team football with Livingston, was the greater attraction for the striker."

Russell, who also played for Motherwell, Dumbarton and Brechin City, joined Morton in 2007 but will be playing in Division Two again next season after helping Stirling win that league title in the last campaign.

Livingston chief executive Ged Nixon, whose club were Division Three champions, told his club website: "Iain had a number of attractive offers, so we're delighted that he has chosen to continue his career here."

McNally, who also played for Southend United, Stoke City and Clydebank, spent five years playing and coaching with Moore at Forthbank.

However, he left the club, who Moore led to the Division Two title, to become technical development officer with the Scottish Football Association, for whom he helped train youth coaches.
