Allan hails Marc - Evening News

Preston had been trailing the 31-year-old since he was appointed as boss and finally got his man after weeks of talks. The Frenchman netted his first goal in Livingston colours in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Clyde after replacing Colin McMenamin at half-time, and Preston believes the Lions fans have yet to see the best of him.

"Marc did well when he came on and it’s important for any striker to get their first goal for a new club," he said.

"He is a David Fernandez type of player without maybe having the same strength but there is no doubt that he is a good player.

"He showed some nice touches and scored a good goal when there wasn’t a lot on for him and he is capable of doing that with either foot.

"I think the fans will enjoy seeing him in action for us."

And Libbra and his fellow strikers could soon be working with Rangers legend Ally McCoist with Preston revealing he is in talks with the former internationalist regarding coaching the forwards.

Preston first contacted 41-year-old McCoist at the start of June and if his television commitments allow he could agree a deal with the West Lothian club soon.

"I’ve been speaking to Ally for six or seven weeks now and didn’t really want that fact out in the open but unfortunately it is now.

"We have several specialised coaches at the club and I feel it’s important for us also to have a specialised forwards’ coach.

"Ally’s obviously very busy with his television commitments but if he can come in one day a week, or as often as he can, then I’m sure that he can help our players to improve.

"He can help give our strikers an extra edge and hopefully something can be sorted out soon."

Meanwhile, Preston has revealed that the injury picked up by Robert Snodgrass over the weekend is nothing serious.

The striker scored twice as a young Lions team beat Whitehill Welfare 3-1 but had to be carried off in the closing minutes. However, Preston

said: "He took a knock but I don’t think it’s anything that will keep him out."
