Broto the Madman

Would I like to see Broto back at Almondvale? The simple answer is NO. It all started on June the 26th when Celtic were urged to hand Javier Sanchez Broto a new deal and wreck Ipswich's hopes of luring him to England. This never happened because of the keepers wage demand. Despite what Broto say’s, he tried to be too greedy, and Celtic pulled out of the bidding war.

Clubs nowadays are not willing to be held at ransom, and Broto has learned the hard way, and his reaction is disgraceful and embarrassing. With headlines like “I cry my self to sleep over Celtic deal” and “Give me a call Martin” or “I’ll take a lie detester test to prove me not greedy” he will soon be the laughing stock of Scottish Football, that’s if he isn’t already.

It was only a couple of seasons ago Broto was on about being home sick, needing to return to Spain to see his family, we’ll Mr Broto, your wish has been granted, and I’ve no sympathy for you.

Then the news comes in that Ipswich have dumped him. The Ipswich manager must have got sick of reading about Broto wanting to return to Porkhead when he was on trial for the English first division side, and he done the right thing by showing him the door.

Meanwhile Livi have signed ex-Celt John McGovern. McGovern, who spent five months on loan at Sheffield United last season and will be introduced to the supporters during the clubs open day on Saturday along with Cameroon internationalist Guy Ipoua, who has signed a one-year deal.

McGovern should feature at some stage in the friendly against Newcastle United on Sunday, as will former Hearts keeper Roddy McKenzie who is still looking for a deal from Livi chairman Dominic Keane.

Admission for the Newcastle game is adults £10 (£5 concessions) and season tickets are valid.
