Butcher warns his players to concentrate

Butcher fears thoughts of the forthcoming CIS Cup Final with Rangers might start to enter players’ heads, affecting their performance on the park against Richard Gough’s side.

The Lions are on the foot of the SPL table on goal difference with Dundee United, while Motherwell are looking healthy in sixth place, six points clear of Killie, with a game in hand.

But Butcher says the Lions recent run of form will make them a dangerous proposition if his stars aren’t clued-up.

Butcher said: “We’re in a strong position in the league and 38 points is a good haul for us, especially since there are only five games to go before the league splits.

“But with the final just over a week away we’re a bit worried that some of the players might focus on the cup game instead of the Livi match and that could cause us problems.

“They will be a very different side to the one we have beaten three times already this season, and, like us, they’ve gone on a two-game winning streak so will be full of confidence. It should be a great game.”
