Gough tipped to be new boss of Livi
Richard Gough and Archie Knox leading contenders to replace Allan Preston as the new management duo after the Livingston manager was fired yesterday.

The Lionheart consortium, led by Pearse Flynn, took the decision to end Preston's five-month tenure after a run of seven straight defeats, which left the club bottom of the Bank of Scotland Premier league and crashed heavily out of the CIS Insurance Cup.

Preston's sidekick, Alan Kernaghan, refused to speak to Inverness Caledonian Thistle earlier this month, has also been given the bullet.

The Irish businessman insisted he had no choice but to seek a new management team before the January transfer window to safeguard the Almondvale side's top-flight status.

"This was a dreadful decision to take but it was because of the league position we are in, which is self-explanatory," he said.
