He said: ``The referee came to me after the game and told me that he was taking Lee Makel's name for remarks he had made - we told him that we would be putting in an official complaint for his handling of the game.
``It's something that we are entitled to do and we feel that we are entitled to give our opinion. ``Whether anything will happen or not, we don't know. But it's unlikely.''
Hay conceded that his side were resigned to defeat by the time of Pressley's penalty.
He added: ``It made no difference to the scoreline. ``The fighting qualities of the Hearts side won them the game today and we can't take that away from them.
``But, strange as it may sound, I thought that performance was as well as we have played for a while.''
