Lionheart statement on the sacking of Preston

Last updated : 25 November 2004 By Dov

Lionheart Management confirms that Allan Preston is to leave the post of
Manager of Livingston Football Club with immediate effect.

The decision was taken by the Lionheart Board this week as part of a review
of the club's football operation which included planning for its future
development.

Alan Kernaghan is also to leave the post of Assistant Manager.

Pearse Flynn, who leads Lionheart Management, commented: Allan Preston has done an excellent job in often very difficult circumstances.

When Lionheart took over management of Livingston before the start of the new season the club had only four players under contract. Allan responded with a great deal of hard work and enthusiasm, and we were able to pull together a first-team squad very quickly at a time when the future of the club was less certain than it is today.

Unfortunately we have come to the decision to find another manager after
reviewing the football operations and also the club's recent performances.
We wish both Allan and Alan Kernaghan the best of luck for the future and
thank them for their efforts to date.

Reserve team coach, Alex Clelland, will take charge of the Livingston first
team for this Saturday's match against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

Lionheart expects to make a further statement about the manager position
early next week.
