Dunfermline's results could drive their supporters to drink but Pars Manager Davie Hay seeks spirit out of his dire team, not out of the bottle!
"Livingston deserved to win. They were the more spirited team and more enthusiastic. They had the greater desire to win and that is why they got their victory. In the first half we just didn't play at all. We were marginally improved in the second half but at that stage it was too late.
"Previously although the results haven't gone our way performances have been what I could say acceptable but today was not a performance that I can accept, particularly the way we played in the first half. We need to show more spirit than we showed today if we are going to turn it around results.
"You could see that Livingston were the brighter and sharper team. They deserved their victory because of the first half. In other game I have felt that missed chances have been the outcome of results but today the overall performance was poor against other games where we haven't had the results our performance was acceptable. You can't say that today.
"Butler was bright even in pace although towards the end his final ball let him down. Derek Stillie played well today but after that there weren't many plus marks for our players.
"The players realise, even at this stage, the seriousness of the position. We are at the end of the table. It wasn't expected to be and we have to show more spirit if we are going to come through this."
At the post match press conference Davie was asked "Given all the talk about managers under pressure are you concerned about your position?"
"The answer is get the right results and you won't ask many questions."
Livingston Assistant Manager Alan Kernaghan said:-
"It was a good performance from everyone concerned. You couldn't ask for much better. We dominated pretty much from the start and could have had more goals.
"Our midfield was superb as well as our front two. We closed them down and stole a lot of possession in their half by rushing them into bad passes. Everybody played well but the two central defenders had a lot to deal with Brewster and then Andy Tod aerial-wise. 2-0 is the hardest lead to defend because if they get one then their tails are up and we hit the panic button. I am delighted that we kept a clean sheet.
