Fernandez V Celtic, CIS Q-F
David Fernandez
The Evening News has reported that the SFA are probing David Fernandez’s loan deal between Livingston & Celtic. Most Livingston supporters are unhappy about the way Livingston manager Davie Hay is acting over the selection of Fernandez when we play the soap dodgers. It has been reported that a growing number of clubs are rightly unhappy at what they perceive as a "gentleman’s agreement" between Celtic and Livingston, which, at least, breaches the spirit of the rule change.

One insider from a SPL side said: "Can you imagine how Aberdeen must feel having seen Fernandez help knock them out of the Scottish Cup and yet he is now prevented from playing in the semi-final?

"We see Francis Jeffers in a similar situation having returned to Everton on loan from Arsenal and yet Arsene Wenger hasn’t had a problem with seeing him play - and score - against his side.

"The feeling is that Celtic are helping Davie Hay pick his side when the two clubs meet by requesting that Fernandez doesn’t play despite the fact he’s widely regarded as Livingston’s top player.

"Many believe the SPL and SFA need to have another look at what’s happened as this was the sort of scenario which was flagged up when the change was proposed."

The fanzine’s view on this, is that David Fernandez is a Livingston player, and should start in every match that Livingston want him to start, regardless of what Celtic, or any other side thinks. We are becoming the joke of Scottish football over this issue, and David Fernandez MUST start the match against Celtic in the Semi-Final, no ifs and buts about it. Davie Hay should be the one who picks the best Livingston side, not Martin O’Neil.

If the two sides agreed at the start of the loan deal that Fernandez wouldn’t start, then fair enough, but the two sides never had an agreement, so the little wizard should be in the squad. If it goes ahead, and Fernandez does miss the match, then you would really have to ask questions about the so-called Livi-Celtic connections.

I have to pay a fortune to go to the match, and so will all other Livingston supporters, but I will feel ripped off, and so should you because of one of our best players are being left out of the side due to a gentlemen’s agreement between Martin O’Neil and Davie Hay.

Celtic connections? You better believe it, and its got to stop.
