But the Almondvale boss believes his team now face a test of character starting with the visit of The Sheep at the weekend.
Preston told the Edinburgh Evening News: "The players need to really roll their sleeves up and look to bounce back.
"The dressing room is down at the moment but now is the time for the players to stand up and be counted. We don't have time to sit back and feel sorry for ourselves.
"The players' pride is hurt at the moment and I'll be looking for a reaction from them in the next few matches."
