Preston: "We shot ourselves in the foot"

A ninth-minute strike from Guillaume Beuzelin, his first for the Edinburgh club, settled the early nerves for the home side.

Then Hibs youngster Steven Fletcher struck to give his side a two-goal lead.

Livingston never recovered from that early double blast and despite Derek Lilley's late penalty, the Livi boss said: "We had a lot of possession in the second half but just couldn't manage to break Hibs down.

"For the second game on the trot we gave ourselves a mountain climb. Hibs scored with their first real effort on goal and then with their second.

"We had a couple of half-chances through Burton O'Brien and Jim Hamilton but we found ourselves 2-0 down at half-time again. At this level, there is no chance you can do that. It's difficult to win games in the Premier League let alone give teams goals."
