A disappointing crowd witnessed Livingston crash to a 2-0 away defeat at the hands of Dundee United on Saturday. A brace by Billy Dodds was enough to give the Arabs all three points, and made sure Livingston slipped further down the league table. Lee Makel returned after being suspended last week, but the Englishman was carrying a slight injury, but the Livi management took a gamble on his fitness, but Makel struggled and was taken off after an hour of play. Davie Hay knew the first side to score would probably go on to win the match, but he was disappointed that Livingston lost the ball on numerous occasions.
He said: "I think we controlled the game for the first 25 minutes and created a few good chances, but then we let them back into it and started to concede silly free-kicks. "One of those free-kicks led to the first goal and that was always going to be crucial in a game between such closely-balanced teams.
"In games like these the first goal is always crucial because it gives whoever gets it a big advantage. I thought the game was pretty much evenly balanced, but they got a second goal and it killed us off. "We're going to have to start taking our chances when we're on top."
