ICT 1 Livingston 0

During the first half, there was an utter downpour that spoiled this march as a footballing contest. The ball was stopping dead in puddles, players slipping etc. Not ideal for flowing football, however Livingston were by far the better side. Plenty passing and several neat touches gave us much encouragement for the coming season. Some excellent goalkeeping and two shots cleared off the line kept the Livingston scoresheet blank.

Second half, the rain eased off to a halt and Livingston continued to dominate. However ICT have several towering defenders, and with the surface being so heavilly waterlogged, Livingston were forced into playing the high ball but got little change from the huge back 4. Some superb play by Cherif (yes, really!!), Wilson (including a bicycle kick which just cleared the bar) and Lilley again gave me much encouragement. Andrews, as ever, was a rock at the back and Livingston coped easily with any threat posed by the home side.

Then Bingham came on to a rapturous reception from both sets of supporters. Perhaps he was ICT's talisman as with only 3 minutes to go, ICT had their one and only shot on goal of the whole game - and it went in. New-boy Darran Thomson judged his pass to perfection in 81 minutes and Roy McBain burst through to give Alan Main no chance from 15 yards.

Now before the knives come out, you must be aware that this was a FRIENDLY and clearly was played as such. There was little urgency by either side. Also, ICT are no "wee diddy" side. It was a competent performance marred by a goal greatly against the run of play. There was much good to take from tonight's performance, particularly the rebirth of Cherif. I am really looking forward to seeing what he can do for us this season now; I see great things

Lastly, awards due to EliburnLion, Bones, Hack et al for being the only idiots standing without cover behind the goal. They got utterly drenched! And credit to Bingo for giving the Livingston support a warm handclap as he left the field.
