Livingston and Dunfermline drew a blank in a hugely disappointing game at City Stadium.

After a poor first half, the pace pikced up after the break and both sides had chances to win it.

The closest came 13 minutes from time when Livingston substitute Derek Lilley saw a shot come back off the face of the crossbar.

When the dust was settled, at least Livingston had the consolation of keeping up their unbeaten home record against Dunfermline in the Premier League.

Dunfermline threatened first and a Craig Brewster header flashed over the top and a free-kick from Sean Kilgannon.

Brewster tested Roddy McKenzie in the 12th minute with a long-range shot which the goalkeeper clutched at the second attempts.

Livingston responded and David Fernandez missed a great chance when he failed to connect with a header from a John Paul McGovern cross with the goal at his mercy.

Dunfermline came closest to breaking the deadlock in the first half with a 25 yard free kick which McKenzie did well to slap past his post.

The Pars had a penalty claim turned down shortly before half-time when a Barry Nicholson shot appeared to strike the arm of Marvin Andrews but referee Ian Fyfe saw nothing untoward.

Livingston had a lucky escape in the 53rd minute when Andrews misdirected a header from a Nicholson cross but McKenzie recovered to smother the ball.

McKenzie then pulled off a great save to keep out an effort from Darren Young as he dived low to his left to keep the ball out.

Crawford then wasted a great chance when he volleyed over from just six yards.

Livingston finished the stronger and Fernando Pasquinelli saw a header blocked by Derek Stillie.

The closest they came was in the 77th minute when Dunfermline were in disarray at the back but Lilley's shot struck the bar.
