Doonhamers rue Smith miss

Kevin Smith's penalty miss proved costly as Queen of the South lost 2-0 at home to Livingston.

The striker missed the chance to equalise when he powered his 58th-minute spot-kick straight at Andrew McNeil.

Striker Marc McNulty had earlier given the visitors a sixth-minute lead when he swept home from 20 yards.

McNulty missed a great chance to double his side's advantage on 53 minutes when Lee Robinson parried his close-range effort.

Queen of the South looked to be back in the match five minutes later when Robert Barr fouled Smith inside the box, but the striker fluffed his lines from 12 yards.

And Mark Fotheringham made him pay for the miss, converting from close range to seal the win for Livingston.
