Queens Park 1 Livingston 3

On Tuesday 23rd September, Livi travelled along the M8 to Hampden to play Queens Park in the 2nd round of the CIS Insurance cup.

The way both teams have been playing recently, this tie was a potential banana skin for the West Lothian outfit. The 3-1 result for Livi doesn't do us justice! T

he Lions dominated from pretty much from the word go, although the small crowd of just 1,011 inside the national stadium witnessed some awful finishing from Livi.

Lee Makel netted a double from the spot with two very well taken penalties on 9 minutes and on 79. Quino also got in on the act with a tap in on 40 minutes after good play and a cut back from the Spaniard David Fernandez.

The bandaged Ross Clark scored late on 89 minutes for Queens Park but it was no more than a consolation goal. Credit goes out to the home side, as they fought hard throughout and at times gave as good as they got, although they were beaten by the best team on the night.

Livi should have wrapped up this match up inside the first 10 minutes, once again squandering chance after chance in front of goal with poor finishing. It was almost school boy stuff!

A bit of advice for the entire Livi team: if you want to stay up this season and prove you have the ability to succeed, try this……………………Have a dig! Shots ON target would be nice and more importantly, STOP trying to walk the ball in. It's not Rocket Science!
